Serving the Denver community

Positions

I believe in smart government. With over 10 years of experience in public policy, I am dedicated to applying what I’ve learned to make Colorado a better place for families, businesses and economic opportunities.

The Economy

Improving the economy is the most important issue facing Colorado.  I will:

  • Cut through red tape with a machete.
  • Axe TABOR.
  • Make government services more efficient and convenient through technology. Need to quickly renew your driver’s license?  I’ll make sure there is an app for that.
  • Provide incentives to companies that create jobs.
  • Promote an environment that allows businesses to thrive through competition, access to capital and less bureaucracy.
  • Reduce government waste and fraud.

Education

Education is the first step to creating a healthy economy and a strong state.  I will dedicate my work in the legislature to:

  • Building the highest quality education system.
  • Expanding Colorado’s state child-care tax credit.
  • Preserve traditional neighborhood schools.
  • Ensure state sponsored, full-day kindergarten is accessible to all Colorado children.
  • Accountability for all schools and teachers.

Criminal Justice

Criminal justice policy must be done right. Colorado needs to determine what buys the best public safety for the dollar and get smart on crime not soft on crime.  I will:

  • Put programs that reduce the rate of recidivism first.
  • Work proactively to reduce violence and create a safe community.
  • Expand drug courts.
  • Require state funds for mental health and addiction service to be spent on programs that show results.
  • Build new treatment facilities rather than new prisons.

Privacy

We need to keep privacy policy ahead of technology.  We need:

  • Greater protections against identity theft.
  • Safeguards for on line purchasing and advertising.
  • Improved security and control of individual health, finance and other personal records.
  • Preventing abusive collection and dissemination of personal information.
  • Disclosure of government contracts with information collection and social media companies.
